John Freeman

As anyone who has studied his book 'London Interiors' will endorse, there is not much that John Freeman does not know about interior lighting.
The book is clearly broken down into the sections: making light work: equipment: daylight: artificial light: mixed lighting: adding light: multiple light sources, and also including the work of the stylist, as well as a glossary. Within these categories more than 100 interior colour photographs are used full page, with a complete breakdown of the elements that have been put together to make each.
Apart from Freemans' work there are images from 10 other photographers, including Jan Baldwin, Niall Cluton and Richard Bryant.

Night & Low-Light Photography

At one time, low light photography was synonymous with speed forcing techniques, processing film overnight in the fridge, sensitizing in mercury vapour etc. None of that here, Lee Frost is of the opinion that light is necessary to take pictures, and the techniques are purely confined to what can be obtained with conventional films, cameras and processing. A wide variety of subjects are included, full colour throughout, 250 illustrations. Good value for money.

Virtually all films mentioned are now deleted, and those which are available now, such as TMax, posdate this book, so it is more of a nostalgia trip than a practical guide. Having said that, there is still much of relevance, and you can't grumble too much for £10.00.
