Conservation of Photographs.

George T Eaton

Published in 1985, long before digital techniques had any bearing on photographic conservation, this Kodak publication deals purely with treatment and preservation of photographic original material. For a small book it covers a great swathe of subject matter, drawing on archive images from Eastman House, and is fully illustrated in colour. It is pro-Kodak in presentation, and this limits the effectiveness of the book, in that virtually all films, chemicals and apparatus mentioned have been deleted by Kodak in the intervening 20 years. Never the less, all the principles and techniques are unaltered, and substitute materials can be used.

Copying and Duplicating
photographic and digital imaging techniques

A sturdy refence guide to traditional copying that has been around for a long time, and has now been expanded to include digital copying and storage techniques, although even the equipment covered is long in the tooth now. However all the principles are still relevant and the book remains useful bookshelf material.

Dictionary of Photography & Digital Imaging

Tom Ang

The problem with specialist dictionaries is that when you need one you havn't got one, and when there's a pile of them in front of you you generally don't need one. Be that as it may, Tom Ang has put together an excellent reference that is probably more relevent to the present age than the mighty weight of material in the Focal Encyclopaedia. Could be classed as an attempt to get a fix on two fusing technologies. Useful supplemental information to have around.
