Ilford DELTA PROFESSIONAL100

Both films rely on new crystal technology that Ilford have developed. Delta 400 uses an entirely new form of silver grain structure to produce a 400 ISO film with grain size more typical of 100 ISO.
Delta 100 employs the same technology to achieve comparable gains for a medium speed emulsion. Delta is for the photographer wanting film with exceptionally fine grain, sharpness and tonal smoothness, which is straightforward to expose and process, and can be developed in ordinary monochrome chemicals.
Processing is completely conventional, and all dev. types from high acutance to fine grain can be used. Not recommended for pushing to high speeds, where HP5 is still preferable. Total process time is similar to conventional films, with reduced development time but extended fixing time.

ILFORD FP4+

This builds on the tradition established by 125 ISO FP4. For high quality work, FP4 Plus offers all the benefits of its predecessor, together with finer grain, faster processing, and greater sharpness. Still rated at ISO 125, FP4 Plus is made with a balanced layer assembly which gives improved exposure latitude and tonal range, with better manufacturing consistency from batch to batch. It will produce good results from a wide range of developers and can be printed in a great variety of ways. In this respect it offers more flexibility than tabular grain films like Delta and T Max.

ILFORD HP5+

Fast 400 ISO black and white film, building on the long pedigree of HP5, HP4, and (within living memory) HP3. Fine grain, good edge contrast and sharpness, and increased flexibility in processing. Push-processing can allow considerably higher effective speeds. Extended development, e.g. in Microphen, can allow meter settings of up to ISO 3200. Robust in processing, HP5 Plus will give excellent results under most conditions, and will also tolerate processing conditions that are less than ideal.

ILFORD DELTA 3200

Ultra-high speed B&W film from Ilford, also unusual in that it is offered in 120 format, making it feasible to use medium format cameras in available-light situations. Do some tests with your chosen developer combination before relying on the 3200 rating. Most suited to developers designed for new technology films - Ilfotec DDX is Ilfords own product.

ILFORD XP2 Super

An exceptionally fine-grained black and white 400 ISO film that is processed in standard colour negative chemistry (C41). Has now been through several cycles of improvements to make it sharper and to give full quality in C-41 without special modifications. Can yield a neutral image when printed onto colour paper (so long as the filtration is set properly - something even some one-hour labs will now do). Available in all the main formats
.
