ADOLUX ADOTECH
Low contrast developer designed to complement the CMS 20 high resolution film to give continuous tone when used pictorially. Supplied as 50 ml concentrate in a glass bottle.
1 bottle Adox Adotech CMS of 50 ml contents gives with standard dilution of
1+24 1.25 liters of working solution, which depending on dev. tank is enough for 4 to 5 films.
The springs development method with which the best results are reached is recommended by us. A prewash is not necessary and may lead to a light fogging.
Developing technique (tilting development 20° C)
Developing time (20 ASA): 4.5 to 5.5 minutes (for middle contrast 5 minutes).
Developing time (25 ASA): 6-7 minutes.
Dilution 1+24, intermittent agitation: for the first half a minute agitate constantly, afterwards every once every 30 seconds. Ones agitation technique may affect the rate at which the image forms, this can be compensated for by slight adjustment of the developing time.
After the developing an acid stop bath must be used rather than a water rinse before fixing.
Capacity of developer:
In use the developer exhausts quickly, and already used working solution cannot be used again! Unused working solutions will keep well (about 3 - 4 weeks) if kept in a full or nearly full bottle. To improve storage durabilty a useful method is to remove some of the developer, replacing it with water and using a progressively longer developing time with subsequent films. This progressive dilution can be continued until the whole bottle contents are consumed. Concentrate diluted this way will be active for about 6 months, much longer than using partially emptied bottles.
Use one of the following sequences for progressive dilution, depending on the ml/film required;
For 250 ml working solution:
1. Developer: 10 ml (replace with 10 ml water)
2. Developer: 12.5 ml (replace with 12.5 ml water
3. Developer: 16.5 ml (replace with 16.5 ml water)
4. Developer: 25 ml (replace with 25 ml water)
5. Developer: 50 ml (remaining contents)
For 300 ml working solution:
1. Developer: 12 ml (replace with 12 ml water)
2. Developer: 16 ml (replace with 16 ml water)
3. Developer: 23 ml (replace with 23 ml water)
4. Developer: 43 ml (remaining contents)
Continuous rotation development is not recommended because of the resultant delicacy loss!
Fixing: Adox CMS 20 film has a thin emulsion layer and needs only a short fixing time, with normal rapid fixing bath concentration only 30 to 60 seconds is sufficient. If the fixing time cannot be shortened the fixing bath should be diluted accordingly!
Washing: Can be shortened to 2 to 5 minutes. (for archival wash use a longer time than this. Archival security from 5 minutes).
Attributes of CMS20 with ADOTECH
* Essential improvement of the contour sharpness and the resolution
* Very good detailed contrast, especially with weak contrast
* Unusually high latitude, hence, coping of the highest motive contrasts and better resolution in the highest top lights also with high object circumference
* Essential improvement of the light differentiation and shadow differentiation without compromising tones
* Absolutely clean development remain without any artifacts (also with difficult admission situations in the studio backgrounds as well as gray courses absolutely freely of streaks. Also other artifacts or soiling do not appear,)
* Exceptionally fine grain
* Especially easy processing (no processing trouble by the application of normal stop or fixer baths or by the use of normal developing tanks)
* Unusually high durability of the concentrate and working solution for a technical developer
* Low toxicity (no use of poisonous materials inc. Hydroquinone)
