Hannemuhle Inkjet Papers

A range of art inkjet papers that, as in so many papers of this genre, has its origin in papers that have been in production for many years. In this case, over 400 years! Designed for critical users, the Hahnemuhle papers work equally well with both dye and pigmented base inks on a wide variety of printers, providing a colour intensity and crispness not possible with non coated art papers. All offer high permanence when used with recommended inksets.

PHOTO RAG 188gsm & 308gsm

The most important paper for photographic reproduction in the Hahnemuhle range, and tends to be the first choice from the point of view of the best 'photographic' look. Other papers in the range might be selected because of their surface characteristics - Photo Rag is popular because the surface intrudes the least.

A smooth natural white paper with a coating accepting dye and pigment inks. Available single sided in 188 and 308 gsm coating weights.
100% cotton rag, mould-made, acid-free.

The range now includes an extra heavy board weight 460 gsm single-sided Photo Rag in the four principal sheet sizes.
NB - not every inkjet printer will be able to handle this weight.

PHOTO RAG PEARL 320gsm

320 gsm, the new Photo Rag Pearl has a smooth homogen surface structure with the unique pearl-coating. This natural white paper - consisting of 100 % cotton - is free of OBA's and reminds of a natural white baryt-paper. The paper features a high Dmax and a large colour gamut that enables the reproduction of finest colour and black-and-white nuances in three-dimensional prints. The precious feel of a real cotton paper offers also a "4th dimension": sensuality and emotion. The exclusive use of cotton linters in this premium paper makes it extremely age resistant and conforms to the highest conservation requirements. It is especially suitable for black and white and colour photographies with warm grey and colour tones and for art reproductions.

GERMAN ETCHING 310gsm

310 gsm weight, coated on one side and compatible with both dye and pigment inks.
German Etching has a slightly warmer base than Photo Rag, and on most batches a marginally more visible felt mark, the slight texture imparted from the blanket during the forming process.

TORCHON 285gsm

Bright white, 285 gsm, with a rough texture resembling parchment. Although slightly lighter weight than its neighbours, the open texture gives it a robust feel, and if anything the impression is of a heavier paper than its gsm suggests.

It tends to be popular for reproductions of artwork, and less so for pure photography, where Photo Rag or German Etching are probably preferable.

WILLIAM TURNER 190gsm & 310gsm

Natural white mould-made natural line paper with 100% rag content, rendering it highly archival. Available in two weights, 190 gsm and 310 gsm, although we are only listing the 310 gsm paper.

In texture it is a stage more textured than Photo-Rag, and is similar to a lightly textured water-colour art paper (which in another field, it is!) So although it will hold fine detail and a good density range, the porous nature of the paper itself becomes more evident than with Photo Rag, especially in the highlights and in the rebates of the print.

HAHNEMUHLE SPRAY

The Hahnemühle Protective Spray offers incredible protection for your valuable ink-based images. This odorless spray seals the printed surfaces and protects them from dirt, fingerprints and moisture. It increases the water-resistance of printouts and protects images from fading caused by UV rays.

The Protective Spray is fast-drying and does not turn yellow. It is completely transparent and has no influence whatsoever on the original colours of the paper.
